Sneak Preview of HoodLamb FW 11-12

With dark clouds gathering outside our windows and weather forecasts giving us nothing but drizzles and showers, we figured it's the perfect moment to give you a little scoop on our new Fall/Winter collection! 

Check out the new HoodLamb Long P-Coat. A sophisticated urban coat with classic elements, clean lines and all the HoodLamb features you love; a water and wind-resistant outer shell, soft cruelty free fur lining, two secret pockets for your valuables and fake fur lined hand warmer pockets on the outside. This Winter's must-have for any style conscious man!

Other new items include a super soft Satifur Shawl Cardigan for ladies, cool printed hoodies, funky t-shirt prints and a new Ladies Sea Shepherd Jacket. After the great succes of the HDL x Sea Shepherd line last year we decided to add a new design to the HDL x Sea Shepherd Ladies range. The new design is a bit more refined than last's year's jacket and features artwork from dutch artist Majo.

Doug just got back from production and is very excited about the upcoming collection. The collection seamlessly integrates sustainability (all items are made from hemp, organic cotton and other earth-friendly fabrics) with extreme weather gear (sturdy, winterproof and high in comfort to wear). The latest step in HoodLamb's evolution is a brand new, eco-friendly hemp organic cellulose water and wind resistant treatment, making the 11-12 series the most protective and comfortable to date, while maintaining a natural high quality look and feel.

Besides the new items, the HoodLamb FW Collection of course also features the very popular HoodLamb Jacket range of Classic Winter Jackets, Ladies Long Coats and Men's Tech 4-20, Furry Hoodies and essential Winter Accessories like the Ruderalis Hats and Ear Muffs. Something to look forward to on these grey and rainy days!

A spotlight on our Cruelty Free Hemp Fur!

Signature feature of the HoodLamb Winter Collection is our Cruelty Free Hemp Fur aka Satifur. The lining our Winter Jackets, Furry Hoodies and HoodLamb Accessories are all made from this luscious fake fur. Once you've touched and felt the warmth of Satifur, you might find it hard to believe no rabbits were killed in order to create this super soft material. After years of trying to feed your curiosity with stories of little animals called Hempsters, we finally unleashed a part of our Satifur mystery in an interview for P+ magazine, a Belgium magazine dedicated to sustainable business practices. 

For all of who you who were still in doubt: no, we really don't harm any animals for our fur. It's 100% faux fur, made from hemp, acrylic and recycled PET. At HoodLamb we strive for progress and sustainability and try to implement new developments in eco-technology every new season. This year we've changed the composition of our Satifur, replacing part of the acrylic with recycled PET. Power of Hemp!

Reading Google News, I stumbled across an article on how eco-concerns are forcing the textile industry to go green. Slowly the textile giants in Asia are turning towards eco-friendly production methods, urged by the consumer demand for organic clothing.

By buying organic clothing, food and furniture, we are indirectly pressuring the industries to change their production methods. The producers of our foods & clothes need to change their polluting ways into eco-friendly production methods in order to fulfill market demands. And looking for solutions for this positive change, they are moving towards hemp!

"15 years ago, Chinese entrepreneur H.L. Ding already had his sights set on homegrown hemp, a 4,000-year-old fibre used in sails for old ships that he describes as the "fabric of the future."

Strong, resistant, in need of little water or care, and no fertilisers, "it is a very special plant, the strongest of the natural fibres, even better than linen."

"We believe organic cotton and hemp will be the main direction in the future."

It's a fact: our industries are driven by consumer demand. It's great to read that by choosing hemp and organic cotton, we really have an influence on the textile industry and are forcing them to produce in an earth-friendly way. Power to the Hemp!
