Kyteman closes The Hermit Sessions

Our befriended trumpeter and composer, Colin Benders aka Kyteman, had a very successful year with his Hip Hop Orchestra. His refreshing approach to hip hop; optimistic, soulful and pushing the boundaries of jazzy, lyrical hip-hop, infatuated the Dutch crowds. He played on almost all major festivals and had great success with his album The Hermit Sessions.

But now it's the end of Chapter One. Kyteman decided to pull the plug from his very successful music project to make room for new concepts. Last Friday he closed the tour together with his musical friends C-Mon and Kypski  at a sold out Heineken Musical Hall. It was a great show; we enjoyed it a lot! Hemp Works Turns Sweet 16!

This month Hemp Works officially turns 16! Whoohoo! To celebrate this great age, we're throwing a party at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on Thursday the 26th of November. It's gonna be a real Sweet 16 B-day Bash with live hip hop performances, hot dj's, art and of course HoodLamb fashion!

Dj Vader and Dj Leroy Joy will be on the decks, Dutch/Brazilian Hip Hop Crew: Wallbangaz will be there to perform live and do a special MTV recording, Jah Ark Manifest will bring on the Reggae, HoodLamb will do an exclusive Art meets HoodLamb Fashion Show with special guest models from the UK and feature new Art Collabs with Achilleas and Gabe360 will take care of some special Visual Effects! 

Sounds like a Super Sweet 16: happy birthday Doug & Adam!

Benga & Skream DJ at Hemp Works

Benga & Skream the front men and shapers of the fastly rising musical style from London, Dubstep, came by the Hemp Works to play a little DJ set!!  Playing and producing since they were 14 years old they are the pioneers of this new global movement. Needless to say, with some huge fans at the Hemp Works we were stoked Benga, Skream and Gomes came by to drop some tunes and buy some new gear, while in Amsterdam playing the sold out Paradiso on the Oi/Mosh nite!! 

Kyteman hits Belgium!

This weekend Kyteman and his hip hop orchestra crossed borders to play at Antwerps' music/art/video festival "De Nachten". Our Belgian distributor, Hemp Made in Leuven, spotted him on TV giving an interview at De Laastse Show wearing our new HoodLamb Flat Cap! The Flat Cap is not available in stores yet, but Kytemans' new single "Sorry" is! Go this his website to buy it online and find out when and where you can see the show live. It's not to miss!

Bryan Gee Represent

Last week the legendary Bryan Gee and Grooverider were in town to play a gig. The next day Adi and Adam caught up with Bryan Gee at the Hemp Works, where he even played on the deks for a bit! Bryan Gee has been playing and producing soulfull and explosive d'n b tunes since the start of the nineties, and his label V-Recordings from Bristol is one of the biggest Drum'n Bass labels around.  About 10 years ago we had the honour to have him play at our former party Retox, it was mad!! listen to : http://www.myspace.com/thebryangee
